Headline News.

We live in mysteries. In childhood, we believed in Santa, the Easter bunny, and the tooth fairy. No questions asked; but how did those toys get distributed by one Santa who traveled in a sleigh in one night around the world. Or the distribution of eggs and candy by a certain bunny, and how did a fairy know there was a tooth under my pillow? Questions and no answers. It just happened. Until… we reached the age of reason and poof—Santa, bunny, and a fairy were gone, but perhaps not in the spirit of being a mystery.

Our Christian lives are filled with mystery.

Maybe they have turned into something less. Perhaps they are nice stories with pretty depictions of events we have seen since our childhood days and still carry those imprints in our mind—the parting of sea waters, bushes that burn but don’t; feeding thousands of people with a few loaves of bread and some fish; a man is executed by crucifixion and comes back to life and then floats upwards to the sky and disappears.

And another big one we recognize—an angel tells the most outlandish story ever. A young girl will become a mother incarnate by the Holy Spirit, and she will give birth to the messiah. Really?

Yes. Really. Because we believe and continue to believe that now in a small white wafer enclosed in an adorned box, the wafer is the Christ. Another fantastic one, but we believe.

If we give any of the mysteries of the holy rosary any thought, real thought, it will be life-changing. Otherwise, they are just tales with pretty pictures.

Let Us Pray:

Dear Lord, we look at your creation and give praise and glory to you for our beautiful earth. May we never take your works for granted.
